What is the main difference between the Jewish and Christian religions? Plus Wine

Image
What is the main difference between the Jewish and Christian religions?  In the Christian religion, it is a task to tell people that Jesus is alive, so more people can accept his sacrifice and be free. In the Jewish religion, usually nobody asks you to join... That is the biggest difference. Why? As a Jew, you automatically go through millions of challenges in life. Nobody wants to force others to take a hard track... if it is not their family background. In the late 2010s, I visited Israel for a longer period, and I had a chance to learn about wines and different wine regions. It was a beautiful journey and I really liked it and appreciated it. I made a presentation about the wine regions and started to promote it in Denmark in the local Jewish community. They hated me for this. They blocked me and kicked me out of the Facebook group! Then, the wife of the local religious leader and a Slovak person, who had just converted herself to the Jewish religion, "got inspired" by my...

When you feel alone or challenged, remember Jean Batten

I was last in New Zealand in 2012.  The last 10 days I spent in Auckland. What does it mean to work for a big winery? When it is harvest time, the wineries need a lot of extra seasonal workers. In the past, in New Zealand, it was 80% foreign people from all over the world. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it changed. But how was it before? I always had international colleagues in New Zealand.  Usually, if you want to apply for a job in wine, you need wine-related experience. As I mentioned, it is possible that people first study something different and they arrive at the wine business... some people were journalists, fashion designers, tax advisors, social workers, dental assistants, even lawyers... during the three visits in New Zealand. So we were on the way from Wellington to Auckland by train, which is a more than 10-hour train trip. So we were two together with another woman. And in the last 30 minutes, we got into a fight...  She offered to stay at her friend's f...

Can an ostrich part of the wine business?

Image
One, not! But a farm, yes! :D :D :D Source: https://www.pbs.org/ This post is a big "in medias res". Why? There was a point in my life when I wanted to open an ostrich farm in Hungary, in the Tokaj wine region! Why? Everyone else always had cows, horses, and other animals as a side business. I wanted to dream even bigger! I wanted a better and more profitable animal! But my grandmother did not approve it! What did happen? Every year, young agricultural people are allowed to apply for a start-up amount of money to make their dream come true or something like that. This project is from the EU. So you need to study how to apply for grants, be good at accounting, have politicians on your side, and a lot more... And be able to fight against the cratsy-maftsy part of the business! How was it for me? I was pretty good in everything listed above, but! Of course, my grandmother did not approve it! What did happen? That year, the ostrich got into the same category as the common quail ...

How to be a Winemaker?

Image
I can tell you a lot of stories, as not everyone becomes a winemaker in the same way. Some people start it as the family already has a wine business. And later they would study Science and Business at the school.  Some people are born in a wine region, but are not interested in wine at all. Later life pushes them into the wine business.  Some people are born in big cities, study something totally different, but then the stress brings them to the countryside, and they fall in love with the wine business. Some people have romantic feelings about the wine business. My story is different. What is the most important? Have nerves! Agriculture, bureaucracy is craftsy-maftsy!!! What does it mean? You cannot be an ostrich that puts its head in the sand. If ostrich is your spirit animal, then you need to learn more about this animal, as this bird can be 140kg! It can kick like a horse! It must survive a winter pneumonia in Hungary and a lot more...  Source: https://www.p...
