How to be a Winemaker?

I can tell you a lot of stories, as not everyone becomes a winemaker in the same way.

Some people start it as the family already has a wine business. And later they would study Science and Business at the school.

Some people are born in a wine region, but are not interested in wine at all. Later life pushes them into the wine business.

Some people are born in big cities, study something totally different, but then the stress brings them to the countryside, and they fall in love with the wine business.

Some people have romantic feelings about the wine business.

My story is different.

What is the most important?

Have nerves!

Agriculture, bureaucracy is craftsy-maftsy!!!

What does it mean?

You cannot be an ostrich that puts its head in the sand.

If ostrich is your spirit animal, then you need to learn more about this animal, as this bird can be 140kg!

It can kick like a horse! It must survive a winter pneumonia in Hungary and a lot more...

So, how did it start for me?

I grew up with my grandparents, who had a lot of animals at home, plus several agricultural fields...

They also had families, who had Agriculture and businesses.

In my mother's father's parents' home, we had a lot of grapes, and every year we made wine.

I remember it was a family fest/party to come together, harvest, make the wine, and eat together.

There were always young kids as well. Our job was to make ourselves busy... and if it went well, then we were also allowed to taste the first press of the grape.

This is the intro to this blog, where I will tell a lot of interesting stories to understand partly what it means to be a winemaker...

PS. Every winemaker has a different story, a lot of beautiful moments and challenges...

Talk with them, to learn their stories...
